Receiving Critique as an Artist

Several years ago, I took a duck decoy that I was particularly proud of, to an artist and asked for a critique.

  1. Darwin Dower, I have been reading your posts for something like a year. I have learned a lot from them, for example, this latest post here. I do oil paintings, emu eggs and a few wood carvings, but I am more of a poet. Yet poetry must also be critiqued, and the attachment to that work equals that of a carver. I have also written a couple novels. Listening to someone tear it down is not easy. I have thrown the whole thing in the waste basket more than once learning to accept criticism. Thank you for all your helpful words. Clyde
